Parking Structure Built Next to Győr Hospital Officially Handed Over

Today, the three-level Dr Petz Lajos Parking Facility, belonging to the Petz Aladár County Teaching Hospital in Győr, was officially handed over. With its opening, parking issues in the surrounding area are expected to ease after a long period. The investment, implemented under the Modern Cities Programme, received HUF 2.4 billion in state funding.

Built by West Hungária Bau Kft., the parking facility can accommodate a total of 359 vehicles across the ground floor, first floor and roof level, providing 201 more parking spaces than were previously available.

On the plot of more than 11,300 square metres, parking capacity for 560 cars is provided together with the parking deck.

The construction of the parking deck required a total of 4,400 tonnes of concrete, reinforced with more than 600 tonnes of reinforcing steel.

How to access the parking facility

The parking facility can be accessed from two directions: from Szent Imre Road via the outpatient clinic car park, or from Vasvári Pál Road by turning towards the parking facility at the signal-controlled junction and continuing to the entrance.

All rooms of the parking deck, as well as the entry and exit ramps, can be heated to ensure safe use during the winter period. The levels have been finished with a resin coating, which not only protects the concrete but is also easier to clean and provides a less slippery surface.

Accessibility needs were also taken into account when designing the parking spaces

During the design process, the needs of patients with reduced mobility arriving at the hospital were also taken into consideration. Accordingly, parking spaces larger than the standard size were marked out, measuring 5 metres in length and 2.75 metres in width. Four accessible parking spaces have been designated in the parking facility, with a further six spaces provided in the adjoining renovated surface car park.

The two lift blocks also enable people with reduced mobility to use the upper-level parking spaces of the parking deck.

Upon entering the parking facility, drivers may park in spaces where the indicator light above the parking space is green. From the first floor and the rooftop parking level, pedestrians can access the ground floor via the stairwells.

Sustainability was an important consideration

A total of 168 solar panels have been installed on the roof of the building. In addition to supplying the entire three-level facility, the panels also generate surplus energy. Ten electric vehicle charging stations have been installed across the different levels, and preparatory works have also been completed for a further 32 charging stations.

No parking fee will be payable in the new parking facility until the relevant decision is withdrawn; therefore, following the handover, the entrance and exit barriers will remain open continuously. Once the temporary measures are lifted, parking in the facility will cost HUF 100 per hour. The sanitary block installed in the building will operate 24 hours a day and can be used with a HUF 200 coin.

The building has already been connected to the parking guidance system currently under development. One of the key advantages of the system is that, similarly to occupancy data for other streets and parking facilities, the number of available spaces is displayed on digital boards located at several points across the city.

WHB donates valuable equipment to the hospital

West Hungária Bau Kft. has been supporting various departments of the Petz Aladár County Teaching Hospital in Győr for more than ten years, providing high-value medical equipment that contributes to modern and effective patient care.

Corporate social responsibility is particularly important to the company, as demonstrated by the donation of two special mobile anaesthesia and ventilation workstations to the Petz Aladár County Teaching Hospital and the Foundation for the Győr Hospital prior to the handover of the parking facility. The equipment was officially presented today as part of a ceremonial handover.

At the handover ceremony, welcome speeches were delivered by Zsanett Szikszai-Lukács, Marketing Manager of WHB; Dr László János Tamás, Director General and Chief Physician of the hospital; as well as Members of Parliament Ákos Kara and Róbert Balázs Simon.

In his speech, Dr László János Tamás explained that the Comen Anesthesia Machine AX 700 anaesthesia machines are primarily used in operating theatres. During procedures performed under anaesthesia, they are required for ventilating patients, administering anaesthetic vapours and monitoring vital functions.

During the COVID-19 pandemic, the hospital must maintain an operating theatre and the necessary equipment for the treatment of infected patients, as well as patients suspected of being infected, who require surgery. The donation therefore greatly facilitates the rational allocation of anaesthesia machines for the hospital management.

The Győr hospital is one of the best-prepared institutions in the country when it comes to receiving and treating patients infected with COVID-19, and is able to provide care for every patient admitted to the facility.

The donation will also support the work of doctors in the future, as modern anaesthesia machines and the continuous renewal of the medical equipment portfolio are essential for the effective treatment of patients.

In her speech, Zsanett Szikszai-Lukács, Marketing Director of West Hungária Bau Kft., emphasised that supporting the Petz Aladár County Teaching Hospital has long been a recurring element of the Group’s donation policy. Year after year, the company supports the hospital’s equipment procurement efforts with donations worth several million forints, and this latest contribution represents another milestone in a tradition of more than ten years, which the Group intends to continue in the future.

Through this donation, West Hungária Bau Kft. and Attila Paár, owner and Managing Director, also aim to make the dedicated work of healthcare professionals easier during this difficult period, while setting an example for others who are also in a position to help.

Since its establishment, WHB has placed strong emphasis on corporate social responsibility, with a particular focus on supporting healthcare institutions, as well as institutions and organisations working with sick or disadvantaged children.

In connection with this commitment, yesterday the company contributed to the operation of the Bárczi Gusztáv Kindergarten, Primary School, Skills Development School and Dormitory in Győr with an in-kind donation worth HUF 300,000, in the form of a massage bed.
