Few industrial partnerships in Hungary have demonstrated such a consistent ability to create value over the course of more than a decade. The relationship between WEST HUNGÁRIA BAU Ltd. (WHB) and BorgWarner extends far beyond a conventional contractor-client arrangement built around individual projects. Instead, it is a strategically developed, long-term partnership in which each new phase builds upon the success of those that came before.
The collaboration began in 2007 and has continued to evolve ever since. Acting as the general contractor, WHB has delivered multiple phases of BorgWarner’s developments in Oroszlány, including the expansion of production facilities, the transformation of office spaces, and the creation of state-of-the-art automotive assembly capacities. Altogether, the projects have encompassed approximately 55,000 square metres of industrial space, while meeting continuously increasing technological and operational requirements.
The key milestones of this long-standing collaboration clearly illustrate the evolution of the partnership:
- BorgWarner Turbo Systems Ltd. – IV., V. és VIII. phase (2007, 2013, 2016)
- BorgWarner TTS Ltd. – VI. phase (2014)
- BorgWarner Emission Ltd. – VII. phase (2015)
The repeated awards were no coincidence: each successfully completed project opened the door to new opportunities. WHB has been far more than a contractor throughout this journey, serving as a trusted partner capable of adapting to the rapidly evolving demands of the automotive industry while consistently raising the standard of delivery with every phase.
Development activities continued even after the completion of Phase VIII. While these projects were no longer implemented as standalone phases, but rather as targeted expansions and internal refurbishments, they remained strategically important to the facility’s continued operation and growth.
In 2021, as part of the BW Phase VII development, a cleanroom facility covering approximately 8,000 m² was constructed within the existing production hall, requiring an exceptionally high level of technological precision.
This was followed in 2022 by an almost 800 m² expansion of laboratory and changing-room facilities, also linked to Phase VII, supporting the site’s growing production capacities and workforce requirements.
In 2023, further significant developments were carried out under BW Phase VI, including the creation of approximately 3,000 m² of cleanroom-separated production areas and modern laboratory facilities, further enhancing the functionality and quality of the manufacturing environment.
The most recent development phase focused on BW Phases III and IV, where comprehensive refurbishment works were completed across approximately 1,200 m². The project commenced in December 2025 and was successfully handed over on 13 May 2026, once again achieving full completion on schedule.
The projects delivered across multiple phases and development cycles reflect a clear long-term strategy: the creation of an industrial environment that not only meets current manufacturing requirements but also remains flexible and scalable for future growth.
Within this process, WHB’s role extends far beyond construction. The company contributes to ensuring that BorgWarner’s Oroszlány facility continues to operate as a stable, competitive, and future-ready manufacturing base within the international automotive industry.
