The Helikon Tennis Center in Keszthely is one of the most comprehensive and high-quality developments in the city’s sports infrastructure, built by West Hungária Bau Kft. as the general contractor. The goal of the project was to create a modern, multifunctional sports center that can be used year-round and serves as a key component of both the local sports scene and the city’s tourism offerings.
➤ Key technical elements of the project
Based on the items listed in your document:
6 clay tennis courts
1 outdoor competition court
3 courts covered by a tent
2 outdoor courts
A small-sided soccer field with Rekortan surfacing
Playground
Clubhouse with a floor area of 370 m² (locker rooms, common area, service facilities)
The total area of the facility, including court dimensions, walkways, tented areas, and service green spaces, is approximately 9,000 m².
➤ WHB’s construction tasks and technical scope
1. Court system design
The construction of clay and Recortan-surfaced tennis courts required exceptional precision, so WHB:
carried out all earthwork and established the load-bearing layer structure,
performed precise court leveling,
built a drainage system beneath the court surfaces,
and applied court markings and durable surfacing in accordance with quality standards suitable for competition.
For the indoor courts, the preparation and installation of the tent structures required special logistics and structural coordination, and the courts’ climate control and lighting systems also had to be integrated.
2. Construction of the central clubhouse (370 m²)
WHB built a modern clubhouse designed to meet the needs of athletes and spectators, which includes:
locker rooms, restrooms, and showers,
coaches’ offices,
a communal area and reception,
storage rooms, and mechanical spaces.
The clubhouse’s technical features include:
state-of-the-art HVAC systems,
energy-efficient LED lighting,
thermally insulated structures and modern finishes,
and barrier-free access.
3. Outdoor Facilities and Infrastructure
As part of the project, WHB:
constructed a small-sided soccer field with artificial turf,
built a playground to expand recreational facilities,
carried out landscaping, green space development, and installed an irrigation system,
developed pedestrian and vehicular routes.
4. Technical Coordination and Quality Assurance
Due to the nature of the investment, the following aspects were given priority:
compliance with quality requirements for sports surfaces,
the design of a field-oriented lighting system,
the stable anchoring and power supply of the winter-covered tracks,
ensuring the long-term sustainability of the facility.
Throughout the entire construction process, WHB maintained close coordination with sports experts and the operator to ensure that the facility is suitable for both recreational and competitive use.
