The WHB Steel Workshop in Paks is a key industrial base of the West Hungária Bau Group, implemented by the company under its own general contracting. The aim of the project was to create a modern, high-load capacity facility suitable for precision metalworking, capable of supporting the industrial, energy, and nuclear project needs of WHB.
The approximately 9,000 m² complex includes a production hall, metalwork and welding workshops, industrial assembly lines, as well as office and support functions. During the project, WHB delivered full-scale general contracting, covering all technical aspects of modern industrial hall construction.
WHB Construction Scope
- Long-span industrial hall structure
During the construction of the workshop, strong emphasis was placed on creating a durable and flexible spatial layout.
High-clearance, multi-bay hall space
High-load capacity steel and reinforced concrete structural system
Roof and wall reinforcements designed to accommodate crane systems
Industrial-grade flooring designed for high point loads from machinery and equipment
The structural concept enables the production and handling of large-scale steel components.
- Modern industrial infrastructure
WHB implemented the complete infrastructure required for full-scale industrial operation.
High-capacity industrial electrical supply
Specialized welding stations and high-performance power distribution
Compressed air network for machinery
Advanced extraction and ventilation systems above welding zones
Safety-focused overpressure and ventilation solutions
The mechanical systems are divided into multiple zones, allowing different workflows to operate simultaneously and safely.
- Office and support areas
The facility also includes a fully equipped office and administrative block.
Modern offices and meeting rooms
Health and safety, training, and control rooms
Changing rooms, social facilities, dining and rest areas
Multi-purpose archives and technical preparation rooms
The interior design focuses on comfort, ergonomics, and energy-efficient operation.
- External works and logistics
WHB also constructed the full industrial site infrastructure associated with the building.
Internal road network designed for heavy truck traffic
Turning areas and loading surfaces for heavy vehicles
Security fencing and access control systems
Parking areas for passenger vehicles and trucks
The site layout supports continuous logistics operations and the handling of oversized deliveries.
Special Construction Solutions
- High-precision industrial flooring
A multi-layered industrial floor system was designed to withstand high vibration and heavy-duty loads from metalworking machinery and assembly lines.
- Vibration and fire protection solutions
The production hall was designed in accordance with specialized industrial standards.
Fire compartments within the structure
High fire-resistance steel structures
Vibration-dampened operational zones
- Preparation for lifting and crane systems
The structure was designed to accommodate crane tracks, lifting beams, and suspended installations with typical industrial load capacity.
- Energy-efficient operational concept
The mechanical and electrical systems are energy-efficient, utilize automated control, and operate in zoned configurations to optimize energy consumption.
