Foundation Stone Laid for MVM’s New Environmentally Conscious Office Building

On 18 July 2025, the foundation stone of the new office building, the MVM Neuron Office Building, was laid in a ceremonial setting.

The three-storey, 30,000-square-metre office building, equipped with smart solutions and located next to the existing headquarters of MVM Group, will provide a modern, sustainable and inspiring working environment for approximately 1,200 employees of the Group.

MVM Group began the construction works for its new office building in July 2025. The building is being developed to the east of the Group’s current headquarters on Szentendrei Road, directly adjacent to the existing office complex, and is expected to be completed by the end of 2027.

The four-storey building, which will also include an underground car park, will be designed in both appearance and layout to fit organically into the garden-city atmosphere of the surrounding area, helping to preserve its welcoming, park-like character and excellent qualities as much as possible.

MVM Group, which is becoming increasingly significant at regional level, launched its Headquarters Expansion Project with the aim of preparing and planning the relocation of several of its member companies — currently mainly housed in external leased premises — into a modern, energy-efficient office building.

The need for the new office building is also justified by the development objectives set out in the Group’s long-term strategy extending to 2035, as well as by its complex activities covering every area of the energy sector.

One of the most important aspects of the Group’s strategy is sustainability, to which MVM is paying particular attention during the design and construction of the new office building. To this end, it is seeking to introduce high-level solutions in terms of both environmental awareness and energy efficiency, with the aim of obtaining the highest-level sustainability certifications.

In connection with the investment, Károly Mátrai, CEO of MVM Group, emphasised:

“Today, a modern energy company can build nothing other than a sustainable, smart and community-centred office. In both its technology and spirit, our new headquarters will reflect everything MVM stands for: responsible thinking, green solutions, innovation and efficiency. This building will be the home of our shared future, where we will continue working together, in one place, as one MVM, for our common success.”

In his ceremonial speech, Csaba Lantos, Minister of Energy, highlighted:

“The Government relies most strongly on the efficient work of the national energy company, MVM Group, in three key areas. First and foremost, we expect the company to guarantee secure and affordable energy supply for Hungarian consumers. We also expect meaningful progress from the company in the green transition and in strengthening its international role. Trusting in the success of the works now beginning, I wish that our continued joint efforts will be successful both domestically and in international expansion.”

MVM Group commissioned Vikár és Lukács Építész Stúdió Kft. with the design, while Óbuda-Újlak Zrt. is responsible for project management. The company awarded the construction contract is WEST HUNGÁRIA BAU Kft.

MVM Group is committed to improving our shared environment through this investment. Together with the general contractor, WEST HUNGÁRIA BAU Kft., it will therefore make every effort to ensure that the works cause as little inconvenience as possible for local residents, and at the same time thanks them for their patience and understanding.
