Bozsik Stadium Project Reaches Key Construction Milestone

The new home of Honvéd, the Bozsik Stadium currently under construction, has reached a visually striking phase of work. The construction works are being carried out by the consortium of West Hungária Bau Kft. and Pharos ’95 Sportpályaépítő Kft., based on the designs of Óbuda Építész Stúdió Kft.

As previously reported, the facility reached its highest point in mid-December and the topping-out ceremony was held. Now, however, specialists are already installing the external coloured cladding panels. PERI products were used by the contractors for the stadium’s foundations, as well as for the formwork of the walls, columns and slabs of the superstructure. The foundation stone of the stadium was laid in March 2019.

As part of the project, an arena with a 10,000-square-metre playing field and covered stands will be created, with capacity for 8,200 spectators. The investment will also include the construction of a three-storey main building, which will house the sports technology areas, VIP facilities, as well as the main camera and broadcasting positions.

The facility is being reborn after 80 years

Social and service units, as well as 438 parking spaces, will be created beneath the stands. The modern floodlighting system will enable HD-quality broadcasts.

Construction began with the demolition of the former Bozsik Stadium, which was originally built in 1938 and later expanded and reconstructed in 1955. During the construction process, the contractors will install approximately 1,300 prefabricated reinforced concrete elements, 670 tonnes of steel structure, and 2,700 cubic metres of monolithic reinforced concrete structure.

Based on its classification, the stadium will meet the requirements of the most modern UEFA Category 4 rating, as well as the Hungarian Football Federation’s First Division Category A certification.
