Construction works on the new Sopron swimming pool are progressing according to schedule, as confirmed during a press site visit held on site. As previously reported, the development of the Csík Ferenc Swimming Pool is being implemented on the grounds of the municipal outdoor pool under the Modern Cities Programme, with West Hungária Bau Kft. and Fertődi Építő Zrt. acting as contractors.

“This swimming pool is being built for the next 100 years. Future generations will only have to enjoy its beauty, as Sopron is currently seeing development and renewal across the city,” it was stated at the event.

The event also revealed that the investment will soon reach a major milestone: the 42-metre-long glued laminated timber beams supporting the roof structure of the swimming pool will be lifted into place.

The facility will also be suitable for hosting international competitions

The new indoor swimming pool will feature a 25-metre-wide and 50-metre-long pool suitable for hosting international competitions, as well as a 25-metre-wide and 25-metre-long smaller pool, a warm-up pool and a teaching pool. In addition, a sauna, jacuzzi and fitness room will be created alongside the changing rooms.

A two-level entrance hall will also be built as part of the building, providing access to the 1,300-seat spectator stand. At the entrance to the swimming pool, a car park will be created with spaces for 160 passenger cars and 5 buses.

In addition to the swimming pool development, several other projects are also being implemented in the city, including:

  • the establishment of an industrial park;
  • the renewal of streets in the city centre;
  • and a complex tourism development project along the Hungarian shore of Lake Fertő.
