We Are Proud Once Again: WHB’s Projects and Professionals Receive Outstanding Recognitions

The call for entries for the Construction Industry Award of Excellence was announced in 2025 for the twenty-fifth time by the Board of Trustees of the Construction Industry Master Award Foundation (ÉMA), on behalf of and with the authorisation of the founders and participating organisations.

In line with industry tradition, the awards were presented on 10 December at the annual ceremonial general assembly of ÉVOSZ, the National Federation of Hungarian Building Contractors, together with the Lechner Ödön Awards — regarded as one of the most important professional recognitions in the construction industry — as well as several other significant distinctions.

Three Professional Recognitions

The Founders and Participating Organisations represent a defining part of the Hungarian construction profession, which is why the Construction Industry Award of Excellence, granted by them each year, is regarded as an outstanding professional recognition — one that is truly “awarded by the profession to the profession”.

This year, three of our outstanding projects received recognition: the former Royal Hungarian Ministry of Finance and the Kovács Katalin National Kayak-Canoe Academy were awarded the Construction Industry Award of Excellence, while the Dunakeszi Student Quarter received a Certificate of Recognition.

In the Public Building / Sports and Leisure Facility category, the Kovács Katalin National Kayak-Canoe Academy was recognised as a multifunctional sports facility evoking the stylistic features of organic architecture, and as the result of coordinated, high-quality design and construction work.

In the Heritage Restoration / Building Rehabilitation category, the reconstruction of the former Royal Hungarian Ministry of Finance delivered an outstanding, high-quality building rehabilitation that not only fits into its historic surroundings, but also plays a defining role within them.

In the Public Building / Education category, the Dunakeszi Student Quarter building complex was recognised for creating an environment that, while expanding the city’s educational capacity, exemplary combines school and community functions.

We are proud of our highly qualified colleagues who participated in the construction works. They provide the guarantee that the tasks entrusted to us are always delivered to the highest standard, using modern solutions and forward-looking creativity.

Further Individual Professional Awards and Distinctions

In addition to the Construction Industry Awards of Excellence, our colleagues received three further prestigious distinctions.

Balázs Zboray, certified architect at WEST HUNGÁRIA BAU Kft., received the Sándy Gyula Award for his work as Project Director and Responsible Technical Manager in the reconstruction of the former Royal Hungarian Ministry of Finance.

Zsanett Szikszai, Head of Marketing at WEST HUNGÁRIA BAU Kft., was named Construction Industry Marketing Communications Professional of the Year for her exemplary work in the field of construction industry marketing communications.
